Surfing - Putting on my first traction pad and I wanted to make sure I'm placing it right? Above the two fins?

If you're really not sure where to place it, don't put it on yet. Instead, put some wax on the tail instead. After the surf, you should see a foot imprint on the wax. Note the foot area, clean the wax off (with methylated spirits, water, wax comb etc) and then place the middle of the traction pad where the foot area is.
There's nothing worse than putting on a traction pad that's in the wrong spot... But then again you don't really have to go into that much effort as it's pretty hard to place it wrong. Just make sure you don't place it too high, keep it fairly symmetrical to the centre of the board and you can't really go wrong.
